I still don't know anything about/couldn't care less about Game of Thrones but this version of this song is making me think about big cats in the context of Sherlock Holmes characters, specifically that if Sebastian Moran is the tiger, what if Augustus Moran is the lion? I'm intrigued by the symbolism of the idea that lions may kill cubs that aren't theirs; I've already been thinking about having Augustus as a primary antagonist in my universe and him suspecting at least that Sebastian isn't actually his son (a suspicion which I think would exist even in the canon, but would likely be exacerbated if, say, Augustus is a powerful vampire but his supposed son seems not to be) and, well, making their relationship even more fucked up than it probably was in the canon, to the point where he likely does try to kill Sebastian. But tigers are bigger and stronger than lions so...
I also love that that animal imagery would fit so well into my universe, I mean my vampires are not actual shapeshifters but some of them were strongly linked with certain animals and sometimes people would see them as those animals, sometimes in dreams, sometimes in sort-of-hallucinations. There is an opportunity therefore to play about with tiger and lion imagery here. It kind of sucks a bit that Moriarty is linked to spiders in the canon since I really do not like spiders, though I guess there's the reptilian thing too though I still think that 'reptilian' head oscillation thing has been ridiculously overdone in various non canonical texts and doesn't really make a great deal of sense anyway. I don't know much about reptiles anyway (do any reptiles even sway their heads like that? I'm not sure I'd trust Arthur Conan 'snakes drink milk' Doyle on that to be honest). I do like the idea of playing about with Moriarty and poisons though, sort of connecting him possibly with both spiders and some reptiles (yes I'm still thinking about those 'you have been poisoned' cups).
