It's called aphantasia Derren
Sep. 22nd, 2023 09:14 pmI've been re-reading Tricks of the Mind and being reminded a lot why this book always rubbed me the wrong way a bit. I mean I love the parts where he goes off on personal anecdotes, those are still very funny. But almost everything else, all the memory stuff and everything, involves visualising images in your mind and not only are those parts totally useless to me he just sort of dismissed the idea that some people cannot visualise anything and assumed anyone who says they can't still can. No I really can't and many other people can't.
(I know the actual term was only coined a few years back, several years after this book was published, but the concept of it has existed for far longer.)
(Also throw brain fog into the mix and you're doubly fucked really)
