I found out a band I quite like are supporters of the russian invasion of Ukraine and apparently the singer/main member made some kind of half-assed apology and claimed he 'didn't understand the post' he was liking but he has also been mocking and trolling the social media pages of a record label which has continually supported Ukraine when he got criticised for supporting russia so guess who I won't be supporting ever again.
(Not one of my real favourite bands thankfully but I had bought a few of their songs some years back. I wish I hadn't now but this was before anyone really knew the extent of their shittiness and I can't unbuy them so what can you do. Thankfully at least I can definitely say I have spent many times that amount both on buying music from Ukrainian artists and on supporting Ukraine generally so that's something I suppose.)

Now what the fuck is going on in Russia

Yuriy Sak, an adviser to Ukraine's defence minister: “Yesterday everybody knew that Russia was the second most powerful army in Ukraine and today we're seeing how... the Russian army is becoming the second most powerful army in Russia." x

LMAO

Ukrainians: risk death or horrific injuries to rescue not just people but also animals from the floods
Russians: don't bother to rescue any civilians from the side they're illegally occupying
Also Russians: don't bother to get even their own soldiers out of the way of the floods
Also Russians: shell and shoot at civilians when they try to escape from the floods

I saw yet another brainwashed 'anti-nazi' prat going on about ~nazis in Ukraine~ and trying to go 'why would Russia destroy their own dam?' and deleting the comments of and blocking anyone who tries to correct them but if anybody actually wants to know why, first because it's not their dam they just invaded that part of Ukraine, secondly because they don't give a shit about any human and animal lives no not even their own soldiers (some of whom by the way have already washed up drowned), third because they don't give a shit either about the people in Crimea (unless they're super wealthy and thus can afford to get water from elsewhere anyway) and how the loss of water will affect them not least because they want to wipe out Crimean Tatars, fourth because they don't give a shit either about the long term impacts of the dam breach and how the disruption or cessation of food production as a result of it could impact on potentially millions of people in many different countries in the long run.

I cannot trust anyone who claims to be 'anti-nazi' any more because so many of these shitheads are just spouting straight up fascist genocidal bullshit fed directly to them by Russian propaganda and often treating this as the ~hot new discourse~ and believing they're on some sort of 'moral crusade', making out they're 'anti-nazi' when they truly are just parroting fascist nonsense from people who are frequently indistinguishable from the actual German Nazis in much of their behaviour and in many cases literally are neo-nazis themselves too.

(And then there are the fucking 'aesthetics' blogs posting pro-Russian war-glorifying shit and calling it ~Russian aesthetics~ or ~war aesthetics~. Quick question: what the hell is wrong with you?)

God the complete fucking prats who are trying to claim there is no possible danger whatsoever from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant because of the dam collapse because 'it was already shut down months ago!’ and any claims about a possible nuclear disaster is just “””scaremongering””” just make me despair for the future of humanity. They are infuriating.

It’s like... they seriously seem to think nuclear power plants magically cease to become potentially dangerous just by flicking an off switch. Where did they get their information about this, from The Soviet Guide to Nuclear Power and How It Is All Perfectly Safe and Never Dangerous Unless Terrorists Attack or something?

No there is probably no immediate danger, all the sources I have seen on this are saying that including the IAEA. What is far more of an immediate danger for anyone and everything in that area is the more obvious dangers - drowning, of people and animals (and many thousands of animals at the very least have already drowned); death and sickness and contamination from pollution such as fuel and pesticides in the water; death and sickness from lack of drinking water and food, and water borne diseases especially when the area is full of dead animals and quite possibly dead people too now; destruction of property and infrastructure. Also the mines that have been dislodged and are floating downstream and could end up who the hell knows where. Plus of course then there's the absolute devastation of irreplaceable ecosystems and huge swathes of vital farmland which could have horrendous consequences for many years to come and yes in some ways realistically could be just as devastating or even more devastating than a nuclear meltdown.

But one of the reactors at the power plant was not in cold shutdown it is still in 'hot shutdown’, the entire thing was not turned off completely. And nuclear fuel doesn't just... stop. Even spent nuclear fuel takes years to cool down, with water, before it’s put into dry storage. And the worst thing is these people don't want to know that they're wrong, they don't listen to corrections, they don't care, either they are actively deliberately spreading lies like the pro-russian assholes or the douchebags who have let themselves be brainwashed by them or they're just basically proud of their stupidity and ignorance and think getting all their information from tiktok or whatever makes them well educated on every subject ever and they cannot possibly ever be wrong about anything.

I am sorry, for the Ukrainian people affected by this, on top of everything else they have had to endure, and for all the poor animals who have died and all those others that will inevitably die because of this latest act in a long long list of vile acts of terrorism and brutality by the Russian invaders. Rest in peace all those innocent souls. But if any of those Russian invaders have drowned because of the dam collapse then they can rot in hell.
