How do you find TV shows to watch any more when basically there is fuck all on actual TV any more and every list of ~hot new shows~ to watch assumes you have access to about seventeen different streaming services none of which you actually have? Also when nearly all of those are american shows and frankly there is very little american that you will ever like (especially when there seems to be this thing in american shows of either they go on for about twenty times as long as they actually should and the majority of it is just filler garbage or they get cancelled after a few episodes and nothing ever gets to develop never mind ever be resolved), and the only time anything british seems to get raved about it's something ~gritty~ i.e. miserable as fuck and gory. And just... nobody ever seems to make anything that you would actually like anyway even when you do get to hear about it.
but firstly I don't even know how anybody even knows about anything new and upcoming (television and films too) or even a lot of not so new stuff, where is this information even talked about (aside from being constantly bombarded now with bloody ITVX ads every few minutes now every time I watch Midsomer Murders on ITV3)? And secondly, what I do get to hear about I know I will not like so it's not worth the hassle and probably money (which I don't actually have) to try to find it. And most of the few things I ever started out liking turned into something I hated, like Ripper Street, like Whitechapel, like Supernatural (which apparently went on for another ten seasons after I gave up on it during season 5. Fucking fifteen seasons? How?)
Also it really sucks liking any actors I like because they're pretty much never in anything I actually like. I knew full well I would hate Peaky Blinders even before I watched any of it and, unsurprisingly, I hated Peaky Blinders upon forcing myself to sit through 2 series of it (I had to buy the DVDs in the end and after forking out for them I was damned well going to watch them), but that's all anybody cares about that Paul Anderson has been in. And all anybody cares about in relation to Jared Harris is The Terror and Chernobyl (I am never ever watching The Terror or Chernobyl. I would rather stare at the wall for twelve hours than watch two shows about people being screwed over and dying in horrible ways). (And let's just say I've endured some weird and sometimes immensely unpleasant shit to see Neil Dudgeon in something else besides Midsomer Murders.)
And even things I like in themselves still seem to end up getting spoilt, like What We Do in the Shadows. I liked the first two seasons of that (except that Jackie Daytona ep which the whole fandom seems to LOVE but I thought was mostly boring as fuck) but the fandom's obsession only with a pairing in that which I hate and the character in it I couldn't care less about has made me unable to give a fuck about watching any more of that. And various factors have made me unable to ever watch or enjoy the Granada/ITV Sherlock Holmes shows ever again (though I've seen all that anyway and there could never be any more). I'm basically just stuck watching Midsomer Murders over and over again (and even that... it's not the fact it's gone on for so long now that bothers me, I like the newer eps and overall I do love John more than Tom and like John's episodes far more than most of Tom's but... I miss Jones. I miss Nelson even, I still liked him a lot more than I like Winter. All the younger fans of that now seem to care mainly about Winter and I just... find him OK, that's all, and I don't really have any interest in the kind of relationship dynamic he has with John. I loved the (very homoerotic) dynamic John had with Jones; I have no interest though in this paternal thing he has with Winter. And while I like elements of John having a daughter now, I liked that dynamic far better before he and Sarah had a child (I don't like children, I don't like child characters or relationships with kids in also Betty is weird. What kid actually loves clowns?).

And it's the same with books too which I care about far more than TV shows or films but when it comes to books I literally cannot find anything ever that I actually like not least because every damned 'recommended' list seems to talk about nothing but 'young adult' stuff now, it's like stuff about and for adults (no not porn) doesn't even exist any more or something.
