Feb. 27th, 2023 12:46 amIt still sucks that one of my favourite songs (Unhappy Rabbits) is a song for which no proper recording exists, all that seems to exist is a poor quality live video and a recording of the backing track for it (I so wish someone would at least try to create/recreate a half decent recording of the song from the bits we have but I have no way of doing that myself).
The live video absolutely breaks my heart though - what became the last Coil show; those lyrics, especially coupled with knowing that Jhonn was dead so soon after that, that weirdly haunted look he has, and you realise really how young he was when he died (42. Fitting perhaps since 42 is the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything after all). He was so brilliant and so damaged and I still miss him terribly, Coil overall and him especially were so hugely influential on me and the things I've created (and you can see that even in my Moriarty/Moran obsession. Queerness and love and death, it's all there). I've never got over his death and I don't think I ever will.
